Embracing the Gold: A 22-Year-Old Feline’s Journey to a Loving Forever Home and Full Heart

A 22-year-old feline is overjoyed to be out of the shelter, enjoying a satisfying meal and a cozy spot to relax during her twilight years.

Thelma the cat became a member of the Best Friends Felines family back in October. At the impressive age of 22, she was surrendered to a shelter in Brisbane by her previous family who could no longer afford her care. When Nikki from Best Friends Felines heard about Thelma’s situation, she knew they had to step in and find her a loving foster home. Despite the shelter being full, they were determined to give Thelma the care and attention she deserved for her remaining years.

When Thelma, a 22-year-old cat, arrived at shelterbestfriendsfelines, she was in a sorry state – all skin and bones with patches of fur missing. At her age, she should have been lounging in a cozy home, not stuck in a shelter. The rescue turned to their community and asked for help in finding a caregiver for the deserving Thelma. Thanks to the magic of social media, a kind volunteer came forward, and Thelma was able to leave the shelter that very day to begin a new chapter in her life.

“She came through transport looking a bit worse for wear- super skinny, covered in mats and bald spots galore, but boy, is she a cuddly cutie.”
Thelma was quick to show her love for everyone she met, showering them with affection. She happily nuzzled against her caretaker, kneading their lap with her paws.

Since arriving at her new furry paradise, Thelma has discovered plenty of things to play with and snooze on at her home with her best feline friends. Following a long day at the vet, they successfully got rid of all the tangled fur and pampered her with a well-deserved spa session. The rescue organization happily reported, “She’s now sporting a sleek, mat-free coat.” Thelma also received treatment for a urinary tract infection but was in good spirits overall. She seemed completely at ease and couldn’t stop purring, as if she understood she was in the care of loving hands.

Thelma is receiving excellent care and lots of love from the team at Best Friends Felines. She has recently become a part of their special palliative care program, which ensures that special needs and super senior cats like her receive the care and attention they deserve for the rest of their lives. Thanks to the loving care and comfortable surroundings, Thelma is showing her strong and resilient spirit as she bounces back quickly. With a dedicated caregiver looking after her every need, she is now able to enjoy her golden years in comfort and happiness.

At Best Friends Felines, a lovely cat has thoroughly investigated her new surroundings, discovering cozy blankets and cushions to curl up on. She enjoys snuggling up with her humans in the spacious bed and cherishes the time spent together. Along with her foster family, Thelma now has a variety of fluffy toys to play with and cuddle all day long.

She now has a cuddly teddy bear to keep her company all day long. She will spend the rest of her days, no matter how long they may be, in the loving care of Best Friends Felines. She will receive constant love from her caretaker, necessary trips to the vet, and always have a full belly and a cozy bed to rest in.
